The 9000 Aero is...boring?

I love Portlandia, but it kind of bothers me that they chose a 1996 Saab 9000 Aero 4-door hatchback to be the anonymous “boring” car in this sketch. I mean, what’s boring about an Aero? Heck, what’s boring about ANY pre-GM Saab?

They should have used one of these instead.

There is nothing remarkable about this car. No good, no bad. It just exists.

The Kia Optima of that same generation is even more boring. The most anonymous car ever built.

The ‘13 non-turbo Kia Optima I now have is (I think) one of the best-looking sedans ever designed, even if some of the design language was cribbed from Skoda. But the way it drives... it definitely has the same soul of nothingness from the previous generation. I think it out-Camrys the Camry. It’s not bad to drive, it’s just not really good either. I’m ok with that for now.

I drove a Kia Optima as a loaner around 2005 or 2006. It was the most generic car ever.
